Christianity Goes Beyond Scripture and Church Attendance – Rev. Dzansi

Aflao: Reverend Eric Dzansi, Minister in charge of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana at Kodzi near Aflao, emphasized that Christianity extends beyond merely knowing Scripture or attending church services.

According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. Dzansi highlighted the importance of how Christians treat those who are hurting, forgotten, or perceived as enemies, as well as strangers in need. He delivered this message during a sermon themed 'The Good Samaritan' at the Kodzi Evangelical Presbyterian Church in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region. The sermon drew from Deuteronomy 30: 9 - 14, Colossians 1: 1 - 14, and Luke 10: 25 - 37.

Rev. Dzansi urged Christians to embody compassion and assist others, particularly strangers and those in distress. He underscored that the Good Samaritan exemplified the universal commandment to love one another, a love transcending social, ethnic, and religious boundaries. He encouraged love towards all, including those who may cause harm or who differ in appearance, language, or background.

Highlighting the essence of true righteousness, Rev. Dzansi stated it lies not in religious identity or rituals but in active, selfless compassion for others. He pointed out that, unlike the Good Samaritan, many Christians focus on legalistic expressions like the Levites, lacking genuine love in their hearts. He urged believers to help others transition from pain to healing and from loneliness to love.

Rev. Dzansi reminded the congregation that neighbors are not limited to nearby residents, family, or church members but encompass anyone needing assistance. He called on Christians to seek opportunities to be neighbors to those in need, stressing the importance of giving time, resources, and efforts as love demands sacrifices. He remarked that true love and compassion require crossing boundaries and extending mercy without prejudice.

He concluded by stating that Jesus Christ taught that eternal life is found not in knowing the right answers but in demonstrating the right kind of love. Rev. Dzansi urged Christians to view neighbors not as enemies but as fellow human beings in need of love and support.
