Chief of Staff Commends Ningo-Prampram for Resolving 107-Year Chieftaincy Dispute Peacefully

Ningo-prampram: Mr Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff, has expressed admiration for the people of Ningo-Prampram, acknowledging their discipline and dedication to peace, which has culminated in the resolution of a 107-year-old chieftaincy dispute.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, delivered a message on behalf of Mr Debrah during the climax of this year's Homowo Festival. The message conveyed greetings from the Presidency and commended the community for exemplifying national unity and maturity.

The statement highlighted that for over a century, the Ningo stool was a source of contention. However, the community maintained discipline and restraint, avoiding violence and destruction. Instead, they adhered to the rule of law, allowing courts and traditional processes to guide them to a peaceful resolution.

Mr Debrah emphasized that the peaceful settlement serves as a model for the nation, asserting that peace and the rule of law should always prevail over conflict and destruction. He congratulated the community for the consensus-based installation of a new chief, marking it as a new chapter of hope and development.

The grand durbar, celebrating the festival's climax, was attended by distinguished figures such as the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II; Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Mr. Samuel Narteh George; Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie; and the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. Their presence highlighted the event's national importance.

Addressing the government's broader agenda, the Chief of Staff reiterated President John Dramani Mahama's commitment to investing in infrastructure, education, and healthcare nationwide. He mentioned specific initiatives aimed at benefiting the youth, farmers, and fisherfolk of Ningo-Prampram, with the goal of enhancing livelihoods, creating opportunities, and ensuring food security.

Mr Debrah noted that these efforts are part of the President's Reset Agenda, aimed at building a fairer, more inclusive society and a continuously working economy for everyone's benefit. He encouraged the Ningo community to maintain peace and unity, stating that development and prosperity depend on these pillars.

The Chief of Staff concluded by congratulating the new traditional leadership, commending the elders' wisdom, and celebrating the community's discipline. He expressed optimism that the Homowo Festival would bring abundance, unity, and lasting peace to Ningo-Prampram and Ghana as a whole.
