Chereponi: The parliamentary candidate of the People's National Convention (PNC) was the only candidate present at the parliamentary dialogue organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for the Chereponi Constituency. The dialogue aimed to provide parliamentary candidates with the opportunity to share their vision with the electorate and promote issue-based campaigns to enable voters to make informed decisions. However, the parliamentary candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the area boycotted their session.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Sulemana Abdulai, the Acting NCCE Director of Chereponi District, emphasized in his welcome address the importance of the dialogue in helping the electorate make informed choices. He highlighted that such engagements could reduce personal attacks among political opponents. He stressed the necessity of peace for societal progress and urged political parties to focus on issue-based campaigns for the advancement of the district.Mr Eugene Tamado Koffikan Bashiru, the PNC parliamentary candidate, expressed in his welcome address that his attendance at the dialogue was a testament to his dedication to the constituency's affairs. He encouraged the electorate to support him, noting that Chereponi was predominantly a farming community. Bashiru outlined his plans to improve living conditions through strategic agricultural policies, including attracting international investors for local farmers, especially in soybean and cassava production. He proposed providing free tractors, fertilizers, and seeds to support the farmers.On the employment front, Mr Bashiru promised to create job opportunities within the healthcare, education, and security sectors, focusing on graduates in nursing and related fields. He emphasized youth and women's empowerment, proposing the development of industries in arts, culture, and sports to generate jobs and enhance local creativity.Bashiru also vowed to prioritize essential infrast ructure projects, such as the Yendi-Chereponi road, which links to neighboring Togo, to boost local economic activities and regional trade. Additionally, he committed to providing support for persons with disabilities.Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abdul Nasar Mohammad, the Police Commander of Chereponi District, underlined the citizens' critical role in maintaining stability during the elections. He reassured the electorate of the police's readiness to uphold the law and ensure a peaceful and secure environment.
