Ejisu: Mr. Okai Kwanin, an Independent Parliamentary Candidate for Ejisu in the 2024 elections, has committed to transforming the constituency into a tourist hub within the Ashanti region. Ejisu, rich in history, is poised to offer numerous opportunities for tourism development, according to Kwanin, who plans to collaborate with key stakeholders to harness this potential for the benefit of the local population.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kwanin emphasized Ejisu's historical significance, referencing it as the home of the renowned queen mother of Asanteman, Yaa Asantewaah. The area's cultural heritage, including the story of Yaa Asantewaah and the Kente cloth-an iconic royal fabric originating from the ingenuity of the Bonwire people-along with various historical sites, positions Ejisu as a prime location for tourism. During an interview with the agency, Kwanin expressed his vision to elevate the constituency as a must-visit destination.At 62, Kwanin, a former NPP Chairman for the constituency, det ailed his plans to develop the expansive wetlands between Ejisu and Akyawkrom into a modern eco-tourist center. This initiative aims to create employment opportunities for the youth and stimulate the local economy. His decision to run as an Independent candidate is driven by a desire to challenge the existing NPP stronghold, which he argues has not delivered meaningful benefits to the community.Kwanin appealed to the constituency's electorate to support him in the upcoming December elections, pledging to implement transformative initiatives that will revitalize the area. His campaign underscores a commitment to leveraging Ejisu's unique cultural and historical assets to foster economic growth and community development.
