Central Region Receives Electoral Materials for 2024 Polls Amidst Political Satisfaction.

Cape Coast: The Electoral Commission in the Central Region has taken delivery of the electoral materials for the 2024 presidential election. The materials for all 23 constituencies arrived at the Central Regional Police Headquarters in Cape Coast Tuesday night and were inspected by political party agents and EC officials under police protection Wednesday morning. The ballot papers will be in the custody of the Police under 24-hour protection until they are ready for distribution on the day of the election. The materials for the parliamentary elections, however, arrived last week.According to Ghana News Agency, political party agents who took stock of the materials expressed satisfaction with the process. Mr. Richard Takyi Mensah, the Central Regional Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), stated that they did not encounter any challenge, describing the process as 'very successful and peaceful.' "For us everything is intact; there is no problem. All the details that we have, correspond with wh at came, and we are okay with it," he said. The secretary indicated that the party was running a successful campaign across the region and expressed confidence of winning the majority of the parliamentary seats in the region and securing victory for the party's flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.Professor Vincent Assanful, the Chairman of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), also noted that everything had been smooth. "I took charge of the Awutu Senya East ballot papers. We have counted everything and from the data we have, it corresponds with what was brought and so we are okay with the process at this point," he noted. He said the party had adopted multiple strategies in running its campaign and was hopeful of securing 17 out of the 23 parliamentary seats in the region.The EC officials were, however, tight-lipped on the process, citing strict communication bureaucracies. The Central Regional Police Command noted that the various political parties had so far been decent and compliant in the campaign activities. "We have not had problems with any of the parties," DCOP Charles Kofi Adu, the Regional Commander said.
