Adidome: Togbe Kwasinyi Kakaklolo Agyemang V, Dufia of Adidome, has emphasized the need for Ghana to restructure its economy to achieve true independence. Speaking at the 68th independence anniversary celebration at Adidome in Central Tongu, Togbe Kakaklolo stated that political independence was not enough, and that citizens must work towards economic freedom.
According to Ghana News Agency, Togbe Kakaklolo called for a restructuring aligned with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's vision, emphasizing honesty and selflessness. He noted that Ghana is lagging behind and urged collective efforts to reset the nation's developmental path. Togbe Kakaklolo also praised President John Dramani Mahama's resource management policies, highlighting their potential to elevate the country's standards.
Mr. Gabriel Adzago, District Coordinating Director, supported Togbe Kakaklolo's views, pointing out Ghana's rich resource base capable of aiding national development and revenue generation. He called for unity and collective action to build the nation, assuring ongoing support from the district assembly.
Mr. Dodzi Addison Mornyuie, Central Tongu constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress and representative of Mr. Alexander Hotordze, Central Tongu Member of Parliament, remarked that the independence day celebrations were a significant milestone. He encouraged the Tongu residents to reflect, review, and reset initiatives for development and urged all stakeholders to embrace national policies for success.
The celebration, themed 'Reflect, Review, Reset,' was attended by traditional leaders, government officials, security personnel, students, and residents. Cultural performances and drills by the Adidome Senior High Technical School military cadet and school choir added vibrancy to the event.
