Ceasefire Agreement in Gaza: Statement of Morocco’s Foreign Ministry

Rabat: Two days before the Gaza ceasefire agreement comes into force, the Kingdom of Morocco welcomes the progress made towards halting the hostilities and attacks that have been unleashed on civilians since October 7, 2023.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Kingdom of Morocco has called on all Palestinian and Israeli parties to give peace a chance and demonstrate a sincere and constructive commitment. The statement from Morocco's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates urges parties involved to avoid short-term or opportunistic considerations.

The Kingdom expressed hope that the ceasefire agreement will be fully respected, leading to a halt in attacks on civilians, the return of displaced persons, and the free flow of humanitarian aid in adequate quantities. His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, also highlighted the importance of preventing the resolution of one crisis from leading to another.

Furthermore, Morocco envisions that the ceasefire agreement should pave the way for a genuine peace process. This process aims to establish a Palestinian State within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in peace alongside Israel.
