Budo City-Bogoso Junction Road Construction Commences as Gold Fields Breaks Ground

Budo city: The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has officially commenced the construction of a 2.1-kilometer road stretching from Budo City junction to Bogoso junction within the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, located in the Western Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the project, which is valued at GHS11.6 million, is projected to be completed in two years. However, the contractor has given assurances that the road will be finished within a year. This endeavor will include the construction of culverts, gutters, pavement, road markings, speed ramps, and multiple sealing layers to ensure the road's longevity.

During the groundbreaking event, Mr. Abdel-Razak Yakubu, the Executive Secretary of the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation (GFGF), emphasized the Foundation's commitment to infrastructure development in the communities where they operate. He noted that the traditional leaders of New Atuabo, a community resettled by the Foundation two decades ago, had requested the reconstruction of the road to improve connectivity to Bogoso junction.

Mr. Yakubu highlighted that the construction of the new bypass would alleviate traffic congestion experienced during the construction of the Tarkwa-Takoradi highway. He explained that the bypass would provide a faster route for travelers from Bogoso, Aboso, or Damang who do not need to access the Tarkwa main station.

The executive secretary also pointed out that the contractor's equipment already on-site indicates a strong commitment to completing the project swiftly. He assured that the Foundation is financially equipped to support the project's rapid progression.

Furthermore, Mr. Yakubu revealed that the Foundation collaborated with the Assembly's technocrats to ensure the road meets the highest standards, with the Urban Roads Engineer responsible for the design.

Mr. Derrick Obeng, the Urban Roads Engineer for Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, remarked that the absence of a bypass on the current stretch made traffic congestion intolerable. He expressed optimism that the new route would offer a convenient alternative for travelers and residents of New Atuabo traveling to Bogoso junction, Kwabedu, and surrounding areas.

Mr. Obeng commended the GFGF for their collaboration from the start of the project, emphasizing continued cooperation to meet all road specifications and quality standards.

Mr. Issah Salifu Taylor, the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency, lauded the GFGF for their significant contribution to the constituency. He urged collective monitoring of the project, transcending political differences, and highlighted the importance of unity in building a prosperous Ghana for future generations.

Mr. Ebenezer Cobbinah, the Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsuaem, appealed to the contractor to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.

Nana Kwaku Baah, Chief of New Atuabo, expressed gratitude to the GFGF and clarified that no compensation would be provided for structures affected by the project.
