Bawumia Urges Muslims and Zongo Communities to Support Presidential Bid.

Accra: Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on Muslims and residents of Zongo communities to support his presidential campaign in the upcoming general election scheduled for Saturday. He emphasized the infrastructure projects and social interventions initiated by the NPP government as reasons for their support.According to Ghana News Agency, the Zongo Development Fund, established by the ruling NPP government, has financed the construction of over 400 projects in Zongo communities, positively impacting the living conditions of the residents. Additionally, the government has sponsored 40 promising but financially disadvantaged students from these communities to study medicine in Cuba.During a Thanksgiving and Prayer session with Muslim faithful at the National Mosque in Kawukudi, Accra, Vice President Bawumia underscored the prioritization of Muslim welfare by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, claiming it surpasses efforts made by any other gover nment under the Fourth Republic. He promised the construction of 16 model Islamic Senior High Schools across the regions and an additional holiday for Eid celebrations if elected.Bawumia also proposed recruiting more Arabic instructors for Junior High Schools, making the Arabic language an examinable subject in the BECE. He reiterated his stance against LGBT+ practices in Ghana, citing alignment with the traditional values and beliefs of Christian and Muslim faiths.The NPP Flagbearer detailed various government policies, including the Free SHS program benefiting 5.7 million students, the One-Constituency, One-Ambulance initiative, Agenda 111 hospital project, and infrastructure developments. Additional policies highlighted were free dialysis treatment for certain age groups, duty-free imports for religious organizations, free treatment for childhood cancers and sickle cell, and a medical drone delivery system serving remote health facilities.Bawumia noted plans to recruit approximately 70,000 health per sonnel for the Agenda 111 hospitals. The Thanksgiving and Prayer Session was attended by the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, Imams, Zongo Chiefs, NPP parliamentary candidates, and Muslim youth groups.
