Accra: The Avenor Traditional Council, led by His Royal Majesty Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, Paramount Chief of the Avenor Traditional Area and President of the Avenor Traditional Council, has expressed condolences to the President and people of Ghana following a tragic helicopter accident on August 6, 2025. The accident claimed the lives of eight prominent citizens, including Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defense, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad, Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Avenor Traditional Council issued a press release signed by the Paramount Chief, describing the loss as a ‘tremendous loss’ to the communities, families, and the nation. The council expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved families and the government of Ghana, honoring the deceased as ‘martyrs in service to their nation.’
The council emphasized that the legacy of the deceased would serve as an inspiration for future generations to continue their work of service, unity, and nation-building. They also extended thoughts and prayers to the affected families and communities, seeking divine protection for the nation and eternal rest for the departed souls.
The release highlighted the victims not only as individuals of remarkable achievement and service but also as pillars of their communities. Their dedication, leadership, and selflessness significantly contributed to the nation’s progress and well-being. The council noted that their passing leaves a void deeply felt across the country and beyond its borders.
The council expressed hope that the national outpouring of sympathy would provide comfort to every bereaved family and the nation as a whole. They prayed for eternal rest for the deceased and strength for those in mourning.
The other victims of the helicopter accident included Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Ashanti Regional Minister, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, an Engineer.
A state funeral is scheduled for Friday, August 15, to honor the victims.
