The Assin North District Assembly has donated items estimated at GHS150,000 to 28 Person's with Disability (PWD), to improve upon their livelihood.Beneficiaries received items such as deep freezers, sewing machines, bag of charcoal, bags of cement, roofing sheets, cocoa spraying machine, fertilisers, and wheelchairs.Presenting the items, Mr Charles Ohene Andoh, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin North noted that, the move was in fulfilment of government's responsibility to support PWDs in the country as stipulated in the constitution.The DCE said, the distribution was part of the government's efforts to make life comfortable for PWDs in the country.He appealed to the beneficiaries to use the items for the intended purpose.Mr Emmanuel K Dadzie, Head of the Social Welfare Unit, explained that, before the purchase of the items, a team of officials from the Assembly embarked on need- assessment of the PWDs in the community to determine their specific requirement.He charged the beneficiaries to fully utilise the items, saying that the items would be monitored and recommendations made.In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Kofi Adjei, a beneficiary of a cocoa spraying machine expressed appreciation to the Assembly and pledged to utilise the item given to him for the intended purpose.Source: Ghana News Agency
