The 1984-year group of Anlo Senior High School (ANSECO) has pledged to refurbish the school's academic block to enhance teaching and learning. The initiative is part of the year group's 40th anniversary celebrations. In a press launch event to announce the 40th anniversary celebration of the year group, Dr. Gideon Amenyedor, former Chief Executive, Vanguard Assurance, said the Free Senior High School concept had increased the school enrolments. He stressed that the accompanying infrastructure, such as classrooms, science laboratories, and dormitories, did not support such an increase, hence the need for the project. He said the 1984-year group would organise a fund-raising dinner as part of a series of fund-raising events to raise the needed funds for the project.'We hope to use the event as a rallying point for well-meaning Ghanaians, stakeholders Anseco, and prominent Anlo citizens, home and abroad to dig deep into their resources so we can raise a substantial amount of money to rebuild the school's academic block,' he said. The school was formed in 1959 by Togbui Adeladza II of Anloga, Mr. C.K. Fiagbe, and Mr. J.W.K. Doe of Anloga, Volta Region. The school's efficiency was demonstrated when it produced notable physicians, engineers, teachers, insurance, journalists, lawyers, and other professionals from all bordering countries, not only Ghana. Dr. Amenyedor stated that the academic block was the first point of contact for all students who arrived on the ANSECO campus, underscoring the need to have it refurbished. He also highlighted the bad state of the Volta Coastline from Anyanui through Anloga, where the school was located, to Keta.'We in Ghana are all aware of the havoc inflicted by tidal waves along the Volta Coastline. 'Though we welcome the efforts of the governing NPP administration, the opposition NDC party, other political parties, religious groups, and non-governmental organisations to alleviate the suffering of the affected people, much more work remains to be done to find a long-t erm solution,' he said.Source: Ghana News Agency
