Anlo Queens Council Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Events Focused on Unity and Heritage

Anloga: The Anlo Queens Council, an association comprising all queen mothers in the Anlo State, marked its 10th anniversary with a series of events aimed at celebrating leadership, unity, and cultural heritage. The celebration, held over the weekend at Anloga, was attended by queen mothers from the 36 states of Anlo.

According to Ghana News Agency, the festivities began with a soccer competition and included a seminar on leadership, empowerment, and development. There was also a health walk and screening exercise. The event culminated in a grand durbar at the Anloga District Assembly yard, attended by over 40 queen mothers and several chiefs.

In her address, Mama Wotobe II, President of the Anlo Queens Council, expressed gratitude to the chiefs, particularly Togbi Sri III, for supporting the council. She praised the queen mothers for their commitment to unity and preserving Anlo's cultural heritage.

Togbi Zewu IV, who chaired the event, commended the queen mothers for their support to the Traditional Council and their roles in mediating chieftaincy issues and serving as role models. He highlighted their importance in promoting peace and harmony in Anlo Chieftaincy matters.

Mama Deawofe II recounted the history of the Council, stating it was conceived in 2012 and endorsed by Awoamefia Togbi Sri III and other chiefs. She praised the resilience of the queen mothers in unifying the council.

The celebration included a special dinner and a thanksgiving church service. It reinforced the commitment of the Anlo Queens to mentor young women toward a better future. Mama Diawor II shared plans to initiate new programmes to engage the youth, particularly young women, in eradicating unemployment and social vices.

The durbar was attended by prominent chiefs, including Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII and other paramount chiefs. A delegation of Queens from Ada-Sege and Agave also attended to celebrate with their peers.
