Ambassador Promotes Investment Connections Between Ghana and the Americas

Cape Coast: Dr. Stephen Sackey, the Ambassador for the Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas (FANA), has paid a courtesy call on Nana Kwesi Atta II, the Paramount Chief of Oguaa and a member of the Council of State. They discussed opportunities for cultural exchange, trade, and direct foreign investment between Ghana and the Americas, particularly focusing on Rhode Island.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Ambassador was accompanied by a delegation including Bishop Peter Kojo Sackey, Ebenezer Ato Nketia, and Michael Mensah. FANA has ambassadors in various global locations such as Africa, Europe, Mexico, South America, Canada, Japan, and Polynesia. Since late 2022, the group has been strengthening its connections within Africa, particularly in Ghana, thanks to the efforts of Ambassador Dr. Sackey in advancing the Federation's goals.

In a statement, Amb. Sackey highlighted that Ghana's tourism industry contributes over nine percent to the nation's GDP. He referenced the Black Star experience initiative launched by President John Dramani Mahama, which aims to boost the economy by five billion dollars by 2027. This initiative is designed to position Ghana as a top destination for cultural heritage, creative arts, culinary tourism, and diasporan engagement.

Amb. Sackey outlined the key objectives of the Black Star experience, which include generating five billion dollars for the economy by 2027 and creating thousands of jobs for artists, designers, filmmakers, and entrepreneurs. The initiative also seeks to enhance Ghana's cultural exports through premium retail experiences and strategic partnerships, establishing the country as Africa's cultural capital and a prime location for international conferences and global business forums.

He emphasized that the meeting underscored FANA's commitment to building international bridges and fostering cultural understanding. Nana Kwesi Atta II expressed his enthusiasm for the visit, noting its potential to enhance cultural heritage and strengthen community relations. He encouraged government support for Dr. Sackey's ambassadorial efforts, recognizing the initiative as a significant opportunity to boost trade and investment in Ghana.
