Accra: Mr. Park Kyongsig, the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, has reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing the presence of taekwondo in Ghana, emphasizing the unwavering support from the Korean government for this initiative. Speaking at the 15th edition of the 2025 Ambassador Cup, Ambassador Park highlighted the significance of taekwondo as a martial art that embodies physical activity, integrity, resolve, self-control, discipline, and respect for others.
According to Ghana News Agency, Ambassador Park expressed his sincere gratitude towards the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) for their role in organizing this year’s competition successfully. He extended his appreciation to all members of the GTF, the athletes, coaches, and others involved in making the event possible. He praised the athletes for their exceptional performances, acknowledging their hard training and dedication to the sport.
Addressing the participants, Ambassador Park remarked that while trophies and medals are tangible rewards, every participant is a winner for their commitment to overcoming physical limits, respecting competitors, and demonstrating outstanding performance. He encouraged the athletes to maintain their passion for taekwondo, envisioning it as a cornerstone for strengthening cultural ties between Korea and Ghana.
The 15th Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championship, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with the Ghana Taekwondo Federation, saw participation from over 150 athletes representing all 16 regions of Ghana. The event, held over two days at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, featured exhilarating matches across various weight categories, culminating in the awarding of certificates and medals. In the 68 Male category, Bilal Ide secured the gold medal, Benjamin Addo took silver, and Hassan Mohammed earned bronze.
