Mr Yao Gomado, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Akan Constituency in the Oti Region, has submitted his nomination forms to contest the seat in the December 7 polls.He submitted the forms to the Returning Officer for the Constituency, Mr. Daniel Ofosu at the Electoral Commission (EC) at exactly 1141 hours.In receiving the forms, Mr. Ofosu asked the candidate not to hesitate in contacting the Office if they detected 'something was not going well'.He said the EC would do everything possible to ensure free and fair election.Mr. Gomado, thanked the EC for accepting his forms.He said the NDC is for peace and that the support would not do anything that would undermine the peace of the country.Mr Gomado said victory would be theirs come December 7.He was accompanied to the EC Office by Mr Joseph Kwadwo Ofori, former MP for Akan, Mr Eric Kwadwo Apeadu, the Akan Constituency Chairman, NDC, Mr. Thompson Ofori, NDC Akan Constituency Organiser, Mr. Isaac Abavon, Akan Constituency NDC Secretary, Ms Happy Mamam, Women Organiser, NDC Akan Constituency, among others.Mr Gomado, a Marine Engineer, won the seat for NDC with 19, 317 votes, representing 58.69 per cent during the December 7, 2020, polls while his closest contender, Alhaji Rashid Bawa secured 13,300 votes, representing 40.41 per cent.The Akan seat has been considered as a safe seat for NDC since the Party and its well-known members who goes solo has won the seat since 1992 till date.Source: Ghana News Agency
