Afriyie Ankrah Advocates TVET-Driven Transformation, Calls for Progressive Prophecies

Accra: Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, has urged Ghanaians to embrace Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a catalyst for national development. Speaking at the launch of a TVET school in honour of Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson's late brother, Dr. J. Kofi Turkson, Mr Ankrah highlighted the transformative role of technical and vocational skills in advancing economies such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Ankrah emphasized that at the time of independence, Ghana was on par with these nations. However, they have now surpassed Ghana by prioritizing TVET. He expressed hope that with President Mahama's vision, Ghana could achieve similar progress. Mr Ankrah also hoped that prophets would start envisioning Ghana's development akin to Malaysia and Singapore, rather than focusing solely on negative prophecies, a comment that was well-received by the audience.

Mr Afriyie Ankrah also clarified his role as Presidential Envoy, stating that his mandate is to promote interfaith and ecumenical dialogue for national cohesion. He mentioned that his engagement with issues of prophecy was in response to the recent surge in doomsday predictions following a helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals on national duty.

The launch of the TVET school was described as a fitting tribute to Dr. J. Kofi Turkson, whose dedication to education and service reflected the values essential for building a resilient and progressive Ghana.
