Adidome Senior High School Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Call for Support

Adidome: The Adidome Senior High School (ADISEC) in the Central Tongu District has celebrated its 40th anniversary with a call on stakeholders to continue supporting the school to overcome challenges and sustain academic excellence. The appeal went particularly to the government, traditional authorities, old students, parents, and the community.

According to Ghana News Agency, the event, themed '40 Years of Providing Education at Adidome Senior High School: Achievements, Challenges and Prospects - The Role of Stakeholders,' drew traditional rulers, education officials, old students, staff, parents, and pupils to commemorate four decades of quality secondary education. Dr. Vincent-Dzidula Kwasi Atiku, the Headmaster of the school, lauded the institution's progress over the years, particularly in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

He noted that the school had recorded 100 percent pass rates on several occasions and continued to excel academically through effective supervision, teacher dedication, and student commitment. Dr. Atiku highlighted the school's growth, now catering to hundreds of students, including visually impaired learners, underscoring its role as a center of inclusive education.

However, he expressed concerns regarding infrastructure, citing the lack of a proper staff common room, limited classroom blocks, and inadequate dormitories affecting teaching and learning. 'We are appealing to the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, old students, and benevolent individuals to come to our aid,' he stressed.

Madam Enyonam Afi Amafugah, former Volta Regional Director of Education and Chairperson for the function, emphasized education as the tool for national transformation. She announced that the school would embark on constructing a new staff common room as part of the anniversary.

Togbe Ahorney Akliku II, Chief of Mafi Dadogboe and a member of the school's Board Committee, acknowledged the school's resilience despite financial constraints and inadequate infrastructure. Mr. Francis Yaw Agbemadi, Volta Regional Director of Education, praised the school's founders and noted its distinction in academic performance and inclusive education.

Nana Baffour Awuah, Director of Pre-Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education, commended the dedication of teachers and administrators, while Togbe Kwasinyi Agyemang Kakaklolo V, Dufia of Adidome, encouraged old students to contribute actively to their alma mater. He announced a donation of 100 bags of cement for the new staff common room's construction.

The celebration also recognized past and present staff, students, and key contributors to the school's growth. Stakeholders pledged continued support to ensure Adidome SHS remains a beacon of secondary education in the Volta Region.
