Tamale: The Northern Region Chapter of Activista Ghana, a youth-led advocacy group, has intensified its campaign to promote active youth participation in communal and national development. Over the past three months, the group organized a series of engagement fora in districts such as Yendi, Mion, Bimbilla, Kpandai, Wulensi, and Kumbungu.
According to Ghana News Agency, the exercises formed part of ongoing efforts to stimulate interest among young people in sustainable community development. The sessions focused on leadership and communication skills, advocacy and campaign planning, community engagement strategies, and reporting skills.
Mr. Issahaku Abdul-Latif, Northern Region Coordinator of Activista Ghana, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Tamale, that the initiative was to equip both executives and members with the capacity to become effective leaders and change-makers in their communities. He emphasized the group's focus on creating a stronger, more unified voice for youth activism in the region and empowering district cells to contribute meaningfully and independently to local development.
He called for greater investment in initiatives that addressed development gaps, especially in deprived communities. Mr. Abdul-Latif reaffirmed the group's commitment to championing environmental sustainability, sexual and reproductive health rights, and the general wellbeing of young people. He urged stakeholders to support their work to help build resilient communities across the country.
