Accra: Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Alban Bagbin, on Friday, honored the memory of the eight victims of the helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, commending their selflessness and dedication to national service. During an interdenominational state funeral held in Accra, Mr. Bagbin described the deceased as "gallant souls" whose sudden passing served as a powerful reminder of life's fragility.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Bagbin emphasized the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. In his tribute, he said, "Life is fragile, tomorrow is never promised, and every moment matters. As we honor their legacy, may we draw strength and wisdom from the way they lived, and the way they left."
The Speaker extended the condolences of Parliament to the bereaved families, assuring them of the nation's solidarity in their time of grief. He expressed hope that the Almighty would console those left behind and grant them the strength to continue the unfinished work of the departed.
Two of the victims, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, were buried on Sunday, August 10. The remaining six, laid to rest on Friday, included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
