Bekwai: The Ashanti South Regional Police Command, headquartered at Bekwai, has received a brand-new Pickup truck from A.M. Trust Company, a Ghanaian firm, to support security operations. The vehicle is intended to aid in efforts to curb illegal mining, rampant robbery, and other negative activities in the area.
According to Ghana News Agency, A.M. Trust Company, which specializes in the supply and sale of heavy-duty machinery for mining, industrial construction, energy, and quarry activities, made the donation. Mr. Enock Osei Tutu, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of A.M. Trust Company, emphasized the importance of citizen contributions to promoting security and peacebuilding during a brief ceremony to hand over the vehicle to the police officers. He noted that public and private entities require sound ecosystems to operate and that the swift actions of security forces, especially the police, are crucial in this endeavor.
Mr. Tutu stated, "This presentation, therefore, goes a long way to affirm my Company's readiness to help the police foil crime activities in Bekwai and its environs. In combating crime, there should be efficiency, and the vehicle will ease the movement of officers."
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joseph Nyaaba, Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, expressed that the donation from A.M. Trust arrived at a critical time to enhance the police's ability to effectively perform their duties. He disclosed that the vehicle would be assigned to the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) to strengthen investigative efforts. ACP Nyaaba highlighted a recent operation by the PID in which six notorious robbers were pursued and rifles were retrieved.
ACP Nyaaba expressed gratitude to A.M. Trust Company and urged other stakeholders to show interest in providing logistical support to the police, contributing to crime prevention and maintaining peace in communities.
