Bolgatanga: Ahead of Ghana's 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections scheduled for Saturday, December 7, a total of 7,080 individuals are set to participate in the special voting on Monday across the 15 constituencies in the Upper East Region. The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that preparations are complete for the special voting, which will take place in all constituencies from 0700 to 1700 hours.According to Ghana News Agency, statistics from the EC reveal that the Bolgatanga Central constituency has the highest number of special voters, with 849 individuals. Other constituencies such as Navrongo Central, Bongo, Chiana-Paga, and Zebilla have 620, 603, 578, and 549 voters, respectively. Talensi, Bawku Central, Builsa North, Pusiga, Binduri, and Tempane follow with 527, 526, 520, 478, 474, and 407 voters each. The remaining constituencies include Bolgatanga East with 335 voters, Builsa South with 305, Garu with 201, and Nabdam with 108 voters.Mr William Obeng Adarkwa, the Upper East Region al Director of the EC, stated in an interview in Bolgatanga that all materials necessary for the election are ready. He reassured the public of the EC's commitment to conducting a free, fair, and transparent election, and encouraged all eligible voters to participate in the process to select the country's leaders. He advised voters to carry their voter ID cards, avoid wearing party colors, and urged party agents to arrive early. Any issues should be addressed by consulting the presiding officer.The upcoming elections feature key contests in various constituencies. In Bolgatanga Central, incumbent MP Isaac Adongo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will face off against Elvis Atia Awonekai of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Peter Akunlibe of the People's National Convention (PNC). Bolgatanga East will see Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine of the NDC competing with Mr Matthew Silas Amoah of the NPP and Mr Edwin Atia of the Progressive Alliance for Ghana (PAG). In Chiana-Paga, Robert Aloo of the NPP will con test against Nikyema Billa Alamzy of the NDC.Other notable contests include Builsa South, where Dr Clement Abas Apark of the NDC is up against Daniel Kwame Gariba of the NPP and Seidu Christopher Akanzeboka of the PNC. In Builsa North, James Agalga of the NDC, Kofi Thomas Alonsi of the NPP, and Ransford Joseph Asuok of the PNC are competing. Navrongo Central features Simon Akibange Aworigo of the NDC against Otito Werseh Achuliwor Abdallah of the NPP, while Bongo has Charles Bawaduah of the NDC facing Madam Diana Aduko Aburiya of the NPP.In Talensi, Daniel Dung Mahama of the NDC is contesting Robert Ayinenaba Alibo of the NPP and Dr Michael Wombeogo of the PNC. Nabdam sees Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane of the NDC against Mr Charles Taleo Ndanbon of the NPP. Mahama Ayariga of the NDC seeks reelection in Bawku Central against Paul Atale Agobiri of the NPP and Emmanuel Anaba of the All People's Congress (APC).Zebilla's contest includes Ebenezer Alumire Ndebilla of the NDC, Dr John Kingsley Krugu of the NPP, and Ind ependent candidate Patience Akparipoka Ndebugre. Garu features Madam Lardi Georgina Azumah of the NPP against Mr Thomas Winsum Anabah of the NDC. Pusiga's seat is contested by Mr Hanan Abdul-Wahab of the NPP, Madam Laadi Ayii Ayamba of the NDC, and Mr Paul Simon Anaba. Tempane sees Mr Joseph Dindiok Kpemka of the NPP against Madam Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba of the NDC. Lastly, Binduri features Mr Abdulai Abanga of the NPP seeking reelection against Issifu Mahmoud of the NDC and Mr Alale Amadu of the APC.
