Ziope Traditional Council Orders Immediate Removal of Cattle from Area

Ziope: The Ziope Traditional Council has directed all cattle owners to move their cattle from the traditional area with immediate effect. This directive was conveyed in a letter signed by Torgbuiga Kpechi Binah-Lawluvi VII, the Paramount Chief of Ziope Traditional Area and President of Ziope Traditional Council, and addressed to all cattle owners in the area.

According to Ghana News Agency, the letter, titled 'Directive to remove cattle from Ziope Traditional Area,' was also sent to Togbui Vizaze Adzaho V and Togbui Kporku IV, the Awadada and Dusi Fia respectively of Ziope Traditional Area, and was copied to the agency for further dissemination. Torgbuiga Binah-Lawluvi emphasized in the letter that the limited land space in the Traditional Area is intended for vegetable and crop cultivation, not for cattle grazing.

The Traditional Council has received numerous complaints from local residents concerning the destruction of crops by cattle. Torgbuiga Binah-Lawluvi highlighted several communities severely impacted by the cattle, including Wudesi, Silandra, Kpota, Vedome, Adzorvi, Dutsiedu, Longorlor, and their neighboring areas.

The council verified these complaints and discovered that not only are crops being destroyed, but water bodies are also being affected. The President of the Council noted that after repeated warnings from Unit Committee members and Assemblymen were ignored, the council had no choice but to issue this directive.

Torgbuiga Binah-Lawluvi warned that disciplinary actions would be enforced against anyone who fails to comply with the directive. He also urged Chiefs, Unit Committee members, Assemblymen, and the community at large to remain vigilant, protect farms and water bodies, and ensure the directive is strictly followed.
