Ziope Traditional Council Expands with Induction of Four New Members

Ziope: The Ziope Traditional Council in the Volta Region has inducted four new members into the Council, bringing the total membership to 22. The new members are Torgbui Satsi III of Adzonkor, Torgbui Mahu IV of Logonkor, Mama Adzorgenorvi III of Nyekornakpoe, and Mama Saxo III of Hornugo. They swore the Oath of Secrecy, Judicial Oath, and Oath of Office, administered by Mar Nelson Awuku, Magistrate in-charge of the Dzodze Magistrate Court.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Awuku advised the new members to uphold the oaths they had taken and refrain from divulging confidential information received in their official capacities. He cautioned them against handling criminal matters such as murder, armed robbery, and defilement, which fall outside the purview of the traditional authority. Mr. Awuku urged them to approach chieftaincy matters with decorum, diligence, and fairness in the interest of preserving peace and order in the traditional area.

Mr. Mohammed Ikililu, Registrar at the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, encouraged the new members to contribute meaningfully towards projecting Ziope into national recognition by attracting competent individuals to support development initiatives in the traditional area. He advised them to recuse themselves from matters where their neutrality could be compromised to safeguard the integrity of the chieftaincy institution.

The Council also inaugurated three sub-committees-the Standing Committee, Research Committee, and Financial Committee-to assist in the effective administration of the Council's affairs. Torgbui Vizaze Adzaho VI, the Awadada of the Ziope Traditional Council, told the Ghana News Agency that the induction of the new members was in accordance with the Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (Act 759). He said the move was part of efforts to strengthen the structures of the Council and called on the members to commit themselves to the protection and advancement of the Ziope Traditional Area as one of the notable traditional entities in the country.
