Zanetor Rawlings Urges Youth to Advocate Inclusivity and Value Womanhood

Gomoa fetteh: Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency, has called upon young people to champion inclusivity both in schools and communities, while emphasizing the significance of honoring womanhood. She underscored the importance of ensuring that societal norms are equitable for all genders.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings shared her insights during a two-day National Youth Conference organized by the National Youth Authority and Plan International Ghana in Gomoa Fetteh, Central Region. The conference, themed 'Igniting Potential; Inspiring Change,' gathered hundreds of youth from across the 16 regions, including senior high schools, to empower and engage them in youth development initiatives.

As the keynote speaker at a breakout session titled 'Girls and Young Women's Participation in Political Leadership,' Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings encouraged young women to enhance their knowledge and readiness to seize opportunities. She expressed her belief in their potential and urged them to be proficient in their chosen fields to bridge the gender gap.

The MP also stressed the importance of intentional inclusivity, advocating for equal representation of women and men in decision-making processes. She called on young men to support women in their aspirations, emphasizing the potential impact on their sisters and daughters.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings further advised girls and young women to engage in local governance if they aspire to participate in mainstream politics, highlighting Ghana's unique decentralization efforts as an opportunity for learning.

Mr. Constant Tchona, Country Director of Plan International Ghana, noted in his opening remarks that the conference, part of the 'She Leads Project,' aimed to amplify young women's voices in leadership and governance. He praised Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings as an inspirational figure whose leadership exemplifies the transformative power of young women.

Additionally, Madam Shamima Muslim, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, emphasized the need for an inclusive mindset to foster a truly inclusive movement. She highlighted the vital role women play in labor and decision-making processes, urging young women to challenge traditional roles and pursue leadership positions.

The conference served as a platform to address systemic barriers faced by young women in politics and leadership, encouraging collective efforts to dismantle these barriers and amplify their contributions.
