You Exemplified Humility – Widow of Sergeant Ernest Mensah Addo

Accra: Ms Mercy Amoah, the widow of Sergeant Ernest Mensah Addo, Friday described her late husband as one who exemplified humility, hard work, and pure dedication to service, which earned him the name 'Adwumawwura'. Reading her tribute at the Black Star Square in Accra, she said, "You gave me the experience of being deeply understood, genuinely supported, and utterly loved."

According to Ghana News Agency, Ms Amoah reflected on her husband's promises and shared poignant memories. She recalled his words, "You often said, Manye, I will give us a life that many people will wish to be in your shoes." However, she expressed her sorrow, noting that the current circumstances were not something anyone would desire. Despite the loss, she acknowledged that if her husband had control over life, he would have chosen to live a thousand years to ensure her happiness.

Ms Amoah also highlighted Sergeant Addo's unwavering faith, affectionately referring to him as 'My Apostle' due to his unmatched love for God. She lamented the absence of their early morning prayer sessions and declared that despite his passing, Christ had triumphed because Ernest died with faith as his guiding light.

The widow expressed disbelief over her husband's untimely death but cherished the time they spent together, believing it revealed the presence of angels in human form. She concluded her tribute by affirming his everlasting heroism in her eyes, stating, "You will forever be my hero. Forever in my thoughts, never to die. Continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord till we meet again. Goodbye, my love."

The family of Sergeant Addo described him as polite, respectful, and genuinely caring towards everyone around him. The Ghana Armed Forces paid tribute to his virtues, acknowledging his passion and dedication in his line of duty. They noted, "He always had a smile on his face even when things looked a bit difficult."

Sergeant Addo was among the eight distinguished individuals who lost their lives in a helicopter crash on August 6.
