Sekondi: Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, has urged Muslims to preserve the spiritual benefits of fasting during Ramadan and continue to promote peaceful coexistence, fostering a harmonious and inclusive community for all. He was speaking at the Sekondi Methodist Park, where he joined the Muslim community to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Nelson expressed his desire for the blessings of Ramadan to remain throughout the year and encouraged the community to uphold the lessons of fasting. He emphasized living in harmony, regardless of faith, as a pathway to building a united and peaceful nation. Additionally, he commended the Muslim community for their continuous efforts in preserving the country's peace and stability.
Mr Armah Blay Nyameke, Member of Parliament for Sekondi, congratulated the Muslims in his constituency for successfully completing Ramadan. He acknowledged the significance of fasting in strengthening bonds and promoting peace within the community. Mr Nyameke also announced ongoing plans to commission an Islamic clinic in Sekondi Zongo, a promise made during his 2024 election campaign.
The MP reiterated his commitment to improving health infrastructure and quality healthcare in the constituency, highlighting significant progress in developing the Sekondi health centre. He shared that construction is underway for an additional maternity block to ensure women in the Sekondi Zongo community have access to quality healthcare services, expressing hope for project completion by year's end.
Sheik Suleiman Ahmed Mozu, the Western Regional Chief Imam, offered prayers for the Regional Minister and the country. Eid al-Fitr, celebrated by Muslims globally, serves as a time to express gratitude, demonstrate generosity, and strengthen community bonds after a month of fasting and spiritual devotion.
