The West Akim Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has held an Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) meeting aimed at promoting peace before, during and after the 2024 elections.At the meeting, Madam Adelaide Gyamfi, the Municipal Director of the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), led the members to sign a communique to signify the committee's commitment to promoting peace in the Municipality.The committee has representations from the Police Service, political parties, the Municipal Assembly, the Traditional Council, the Electoral Commission, CHRAJ, Market Women, and religious leaders, among others. Mr Daniel Chartey, the Municipal Director of NCCE, urged political activists to demonstrate a high sense of maturity by refraining from all negative acts in their day-to-day political engagements so as not to undermine the credibility of the electoral process.He asked them to be decorous in their utterances and actions to avert needless tensio ns for a smooth electioneering process.'If we fail to behave ourselves we will remain as babies in our democratic journey,' he added.Mr Ofosu Anim, West Akim Municipal Police Commander, entreated political actors to always inform the police at least five days before organising outdoor events for the police to prepare adequately to protect them and others.Ms Sara Gyamfuah Akuoko, West Akim Municipal Electoral Commission Officer, cautions politicians and political actors against defacing party posters, snatching of ballot boxes, vote buying, use of hate speech, and the spread of misinformation and disinformation.Source: Ghana News Agency
