Volta Regional Minister Praises Outgoing Police Commander for Professionalism

Accra: Mr. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has commended the outgoing Volta Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Andrews Boadu-Ekumah, for exhibiting a high level of professionalism during his tenure. He noted that the Commander served the region with unwavering dedication and integrity, never compromising professionalism for material gains or showing political bias in his duties.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gunu expressed his commendation during a send-off party organized by the Volta Regional Police Command in honor of DCOP Boadu-Ekumah. The Commander is set to retire from the Service on April 5, 2025, after more than 30 years of committed service marked by integrity and professionalism, leaving a lasting impact on the Service.

Mr. Gunu, representing the Regional Coordinating Council and the Regional Security Council, congratulated the Commander for his service to the nation. The Minister, who collaborated closely with DCOP Boadu-Ekumah as the National Democratic Congress' Regional Secretary, highlighted the Commander's exceptional leadership and the transformation he brought to policing in the region.

He also encouraged the incoming Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr. Wisdom Akorli, along with other officers, to follow the exemplary path set by their predecessor. The Minister assured ACP Akorli of the Regional Coordinating Council's full support in executing his responsibilities.

In his remarks, DCOP Boadu-Ekumah reflected on his long and challenging journey within the Police Service, expressing gratitude to God and all those who mentored and supported him. He stated his readiness to assist in any future endeavors that would further the progress of the Regional Police Command, emphasizing the rewarding experience he gained as the Regional Commander.

DCOP Boadu-Ekumah urged Service personnel to take ownership of the Service, contribute to building a better Ghana, and adhere to the principles of fairness, integrity, and professionalism.

Togbe Kasa III, Divisional Chief of Ho-Ahoe, who chaired the event, acknowledged DCOP Boadu-Ekumah's dedication, leadership, and commitment. He praised the Commander for leading with integrity and professionalism, noting that his mentorship had significantly influenced many police officers and reduced criminal activities in the region, particularly in Ho, the regional capital.
