Volta Regional Minister Pledges Completion of UHAS Fodome Campus

Hohoe: Mr. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has reassured traditional authorities in the Fodome Traditional Area of the completion of the Fodome Campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). He emphasized that the campus's completion would open the area for business, and the government is committed to ensuring it is ready for academic activities.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gunu addressed chiefs and queen mothers of the Fodome Traditional Area during a working visit to the Hohoe Municipality. He assured them that the 2026 national budget would include provisions for completing the UHAS Fodome campus project. Additionally, the Municipality is benefitting from nine roads under the Urban Roads initiative, including the Fodome to Hohoe road network.

Mr. Gunu also expressed his commitment to working with traditional and religious leaders for the region's development. Mr. Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Member of Parliament for Hohoe Constituency, stated that phase one of the UHAS campus project at Fodome is expected to be completed promptly, with efforts underway to finish the entire project. He also noted that the Fodome to Hohoe road is progressing well and should be completed soon.

Mr. Tsekpo encouraged the traditional authorities to motivate the youth to take advantage of government programs and initiatives to improve their lives. Mr. Prosper Kumi, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, expressed hope that academic activities at the Fodome Campus would commence in the 2026 academic year, as government monetary releases to the Assembly are forthcoming, enabling project advancement across the Municipality.

Togbega Gbedegbleme Akpatsa II, Paramount Chief of Fodome Traditional Area, highlighted the economic boost the UHAS Fodome campus's completion would bring to the local economy. He stressed the importance of completing the project and noted that 'what is on our heart is the University.' He also addressed the issue of understaffing at the Fodome police post, urging the Volta North Regional Command to address the gap to enhance security.

Togbega Akpatsa called on the Regional Minister, the MP, and the MCE to collaborate to improve the road network within the Municipality. The Regional Minister and his entourage concluded day one of their working tour by meeting with the Muslim community in the Municipality.
