Ketu South: Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asserted that the Volta Region, particularly Ketu South, is the heart of the party, highlighting its role as the core base of support and loyalty for the NDC. He made these remarks during the final rally of the Ketu South NDC, emphasizing the region's pivotal role in the party's roots and its consistent support that is vital for electoral success.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Kwetey appealed to the people of Ketu South and the entire Volta Region to maintain their loyalty to the NDC. He recalled the remarkable support in the last elections when Ketu South delivered over 86,000 votes for the party and expressed the goal of surpassing 100,000 votes in the upcoming elections. Mr Kwetey acknowledged the investments made in the region in terms of infrastructure, social services, and economic opportunities, attributing these developments to the strong affinity residents have for the party. He remarked on the le gacy of the late President Jerry John Rawlings, a native of the region and founder of the NDC, who may have envisioned future leaders continuing the development he initiated for Volta and Ketu South.Highlighting the economic challenges facing Ghana, the former Member of Parliament for Ketu South argued that the current state of affairs is worse than decades ago, a time that prompted former President Rawlings into politics with the June 4th uprising. He expressed confidence that only the NDC could revive the nation's economy.Mr Sammy Gyamfi, NDC National Communications Officer, urged voters to take the December 7 general elections personally, emphasizing the necessity of an NDC victory for the country's future under former President John Dramani Mahama. He stressed that the NDC offers hope amid economic difficulties and called on Ketu South residents to contribute significantly to the party's success by exceeding 100,000 votes. He assured that Mr Mahama and the NDC would address local issues, including pro tection from tidal wave destruction and infrastructure development.Mr Mathias Alagbo, NDC Volta Regional Youth Organiser, encouraged the youth to support the party, highlighting the benefits outlined in the party's manifesto dedicated to them. Mr Edudzi Tamakloe, Director of Legal Affairs, NDC, reiterated the strong bond between Ketu South and the NDC and urged voters to help abolish unpopular levies by voting for the party.Mr Foga Nukunu, an educator, emphasized the need for the NDC to refine the Free SHS programme, while Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, MP for Ketu South, urged constituents to trust the NDC to address economic challenges and vote for the party.
