Mr. Agbezudor emphasized the importance of avoiding bushfires near ECG installations as they lead to prolonged power outages and significant financial losses. He encouraged collective efforts to protect power infrastructure.
Ms. Christina Jato-Kaleo, General Manager of ECG Volta/Oti, revealed that 78 high tension poles have been destroyed by bushfires in the Volta and Oti regions, impacting 11 districts, including Ho, Hohoe, Akatsi, Denu, Keta, Nkwanta, Kpando Dambai, Kpeve, Sogakope, and Jasikan. The economic implication of these losses amounts to GHC686,346.18. Beyond monetary costs, customers will experience power disruptions until the situation is resolved.
Mr. Jato-Kaleo appealed to the public to help protect ECG poles and transformers by avoiding actions that could disrupt power supplies.
