Blinken issued a statement extending congratulations to both President-elect Mahama and Vice President-elect Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. Opoku-Agyemang has made history as Ghana's first female vice president. The statement also commended Ghana's Electoral Commission, electoral workers, civil society, and security agencies for facilitating a peaceful and transparent election process.The U.S. acknowledged outgoing Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his acceptance of the election results, underscoring the importance of graciousness in democratic transitions.
