UG Authorities Issue Alert on COVID-19 Infections on Campus

Accra: The University of Ghana Health Service Directorate has issued a notice on the resurgence in COVID-19 cases within the university community. The Health Service Directorate in a statement issued on Monday said it had recorded a few suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases in its immediate environment.

According to Ghana News Agency, in light of this development, it has advised all staff, students, and visitors to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the recommended preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection and community spread. "Students, staff, and visitors are advised to wear face masks properly, especially in enclosed or crowded spaces," the statement emphasized.

The university community is further advised to adopt regular handwashing with soap under running water or to use alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Maintaining physical distancing of at least one meter where possible and avoiding large gatherings unless absolutely necessary are also part of the recommended precautions.

Additionally, the notice underscores the importance of ensuring good ventilation in offices, lecture halls, and meeting rooms. It advises individuals to stay at home if they experience any flu-like symptoms and to seek prompt medical attention.

The Health Services Directorate has reactivated its COVID-19 response protocols and will closely monitor the situation, providing regular updates as needed.
