Accra: The University of Cape Coast (UCC) alumni, particularly those from the biological and physical sciences, recently organized a free health screening and donated GHC5,000 to Center for Hope Charity Aid. This initiative is part of the alumni's efforts to support humanitarian causes.According to Ghana News Agency, the alumni also contributed fifteen bags of 25kg rice, two cartons of vegetable oil, two cartons of sardines, tissues, milk, and milo as part of their donation. The health screening covered checks for blood pressure, glucose levels, and breast cancer, among other health issues.The event, which was held at the premises of Center for Hope Charity Aid in Accra, was conducted in partnership with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). It saw active participation from approximately 40 aged women and 20 aged men, who benefitted from the health services provided.Mrs. Charlotte Hebidzi, President of the Biological and Physical Science Alumni, spoke at the event, emphasizing the initiative's aim to positively impact lives, particularly those of vulnerable individuals in society. She encouraged associations and corporate organizations to extend their humanitarian services to aid the needy in the community.Mrs. Hebidzi also highlighted that the Association had supported five students with their needs this year, demonstrating their commitment to aiding the poor and needy.Madam Mauricia, Assistant Administrator of Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM), expressed her deep gratitude to the alumni for their support towards the community's needy. She assured that the donation would be used for its intended purposes and appreciated the timely health screening, given the rising costs of healthcare and diseases.She advised impoverished individuals to pray for donors, hoping that these benefactors would continue to grow their capacity to give back to society.
