Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, and Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan Members of Parliament for Korle-Klottey and Ayawaso West Wuogon have respectively filed their nominations to seek re-election come December 7.They filed their nominations at the district offices of the Electoral Commission (EC) with oversight responsibility on their respective constituencies as far as elections are concerned.Dr Agyemang Rawlings is seeking the mandate of the people of Korle-Klottey for the third time after contesting and winning in 2016 and 2020 on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).In 2016, Dr Agyemang-Rawlings, daughter of former President Rawlings entered the NDC Parliamentary primary race and won massively to represent the NDC and went on to capture the seat with 33, 609 votes representing (51.3%) to beat the NPP's Mr Philip Addison who polled 29,122.In her second attempt in 2020, she again received massive endorsement from the people of Korle-Klottey with a resounding vote of 39,345 votes (55.66%) whi le her closest contender Prince Debrah from the NPP polled 31,154.On the other hand, Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan, who entered parliament in 2019 through a by-election on the death of the sitting MP Mr Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko, is seeking re-election for a second term.In the 2020 elections, Madam Alhassan obtained 39,857 votes (51.36%) to beat John Dumelo of the NDC who garnered 37,478 votes to retain the seat for the NPP.The two MPs are part of the 40 women who entered parliament in 2020 and the privileged 29 incumbent female MPs who sailed through their respective party primaries to endorse their candidature for 2024.Source: Ghana News Agency
