Tumu College of Education graduates 214

The Tumu College of Education has organised a graduation ceremony for 214 for successfully completing their four-year Degree programmes.The occasion was also used to perform the investiture of the College Principal, Professor Abdul Mumuni Selanwiah Salifu as well as launching the 40th anniversary of the college.The programme was on the theme: '40 years of quality teacher education: Reflecting on our achievements and inspiring new directions for transformational teacher education and leadership.'The anniversary celebration highlighted the college's journey over the past four decades, emphasizing its contributions to teacher education and the development of the educational sector in the Upper West Region and beyond.The event showcased the college's achievements, including the production of highly qualified teachers who had significantly impacted various parts of the country.In an acceptance speech after swearing an oath of office, the newly inducted Principal, Professor Abdul Mumuni Selanwiah Salifu expressed pride in the college's progress and growth, noting that the institution had consistently upheld its mission of training competent and committed teachers.He pledged to build on the successes of his predecessor and work towards enhancing the college's reputation as a leading institution for teacher education in Ghana.The principal said leadership was not a title but a call to do more.He commended all former Principals of the College for their hard work and also emphasized the importance of adapting to the changing educational landscape to ensure the college remained relevant in the coming years.He outlined his vision for the college, which included expanding academic programmes, improving infrastructure, and strengthening partnerships with educational stakeholders.The graduates received Degrees in Early Childhood Education and were commended for their hard work and dedication.The principal encouraged them to be ambassadors of the College, by using the knowledge and skills they acquired to positively impact the communities they will serve.Miss N-Yo Wiisichong Sharifa who got a first class and the overall best-performing student on behalf of her colleagues read the valedictory speech where she expressed gratitude to the College's faculty and staff for their guidance and support.She urged her fellow graduates to embrace the challenges ahead with confidence and to remain committed to lifelong learning to remain relevant.Kuoro Mahmoud Zakaria Savei, the chairman of the Tumu College of Education Council expressed concern about the nature of the road leading to the college, which needed urgent attention to address.He said the absence of streetlights leading to the college also posed a great danger to students and staff.Kuoru Osman Deiwia Nankpa III, the paramount Chief of Pulima and the Gandawii traditional council thanked all those who played a role in bringing the institution to the area.Source: Ghana News Agency
