Dambai: Four people, including a woman and her three children, have lost their lives in a fatal accident on the Dambai-Asukawkaw highway in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region. The accident occurred on Thursday around 1630 Hours between the communities of Abongo and Nwane, involving a private Nissan vehicle and a Kia Rhino container truck.According to Ghana News Agency, eyewitness accounts indicate that the Kia Rhino driver, in an attempt to avoid a pothole on his lane, veered into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the oncoming Nissan. The impact of the crash claimed the lives of a woman and her three children-one boy and two girls-instantly.The driver of the Nissan sustained a broken arm and other severe injuries. Additionally, the Kia Rhino driver and his mate suffered critical injuries. All injured persons were rushed to the Worawora Government Hospital for emergency care.An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, recounted the incident, stating, "I was riding on my mot orbike when I saw the Kia Rhino trying to dodge a pothole. Unfortunately, the driver failed to check for oncoming traffic before veering into the other lane. The private car appeared almost immediately, and they collided head-on. Sadly, the woman and her three children died on the spot. We quickly called the hospital and the police, and they came to assist." He added that the Kia Rhino was traveling from the Dambai direction while the private Nissan was coming from the Kpando side.Officers from the Krachi East MTTD Command were present at the scene but declined to speak to the media at the time. The deceased bodies have since been deposited at the Worawora Government Hospital morgue as investigations continue.
