Tourism Partnerships to Thrive as Government Reaffirms Commitment

Accra: Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening existing partnerships and creating an enabling environment for the tourism and hospitality industry to thrive. She emphasized the government's determination to foster a climate where tourism, culture, and the creative economy serve as major drivers of investment, job creation, and cultural preservation.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister made these remarks at the 2025 Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) Executive Council Elections held in Accra. She highlighted the central role GHATOF has played in Ghana's tourism ecosystem as an umbrella body uniting trade associations across tourism, culture, and creative arts. Madam Gomashie praised the federation's leadership, advocacy, and collaboration with the Ministry, noting that these efforts continue to shape the sector's path and reinforce its contribution to national development.

The election, she said, was more than a routine exercise; it was a celebration of unity, continuity, and a collective will to advance tourism enterprises and entrepreneurs' interests nationwide. The Minister added that the election served as a reminder of the important democratic principles guiding GHATOF's mandate to represent diverse stakeholder voices.

Madam Gomashie expressed the Ministry's deep appreciation for its partnership with GHATOF, recognizing its pivotal role in promoting responsible tourism, professional standards, and stakeholder dialogue. She acknowledged the achievements made through policy consultations, capacity building initiatives, destination marketing, and sustainable tourism efforts. She thanked the outgoing Executive Council for their dedication and service, urging those seeking election to demonstrate integrity, innovation, and inclusiveness.

Mr. William Yeboah, Chairman of the GHATOF Electoral Committee, described the gathering as a reflection of the Federation's commitment to transparency, accountability, and unity within Ghana's tourism fraternity. He emphasized that GHATOF symbolizes collaboration and a united voice advocating for the growth, innovation, and competitiveness of "Destination Ghana."

Mr. Yeboah explained that the election process was guided by the GHATOF Constitution, which mandates the election of officers every two years during the Federation's annual congress in October. The electoral journey began in August 2025 with the development of an electoral roadmap, nomination processes for aspiring candidates, and the establishment of a Voting Committee to create voting rules and a regulatory framework.

These efforts culminated in a successful voting outcome report on October 24, 2025, marking another milestone in the federation's pursuit of good governance and accountability. Mr. Yeboah assured stakeholders that the election would be free, fair, transparent, and credible, reflecting the true will of its member associations and renewing trust in the shared vision of advancing Ghana's tourism industry.
