Tourism Ministry Partners with Meta for Digital Skills Training to Boost Cultural Storytelling

Accra: The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has partnered with Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp, to conduct a two-day digital skills training workshop. This initiative aims to enhance tourism and cultural storytelling through the effective use of digital tools.

According to Ghana News Agency, the training brought together officials from the Ministry and its 13 implementing agencies to explore the potential of Meta tools in promoting tourism and creative enterprises. The workshop covered various modules, including content creation and audience engagement, campaign analytics, as well as the use of WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram Business tools. Participants also gained access to Meta Support Pro and the Self-Guide Portal.

Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the sector Minister, emphasized the importance of embracing self-improvement and digital innovation as transformation tools during the closing of the training. She highlighted that the initiative was not only for the benefit of the participants but also for those they work with and future generations. The Minister stressed the significance of service, character, and preparation, noting that the training aligns Ghana's creative sector with global digital trends.

Mr Kojo Boakye, Vice President for Public Policy at Meta for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, underscored the role of digital communication in enhancing Ghana's global image. He encouraged active engagement and the integration of new skills into both institutional operations and personal growth journeys, marking a significant step in digitizing Ghana's tourism and creative industries.

The sessions were led by top Meta experts, including Mr Sade Dada, Madam Judith Mongala, and Mr Boakye, who provided practical insights to the participants.
