Anyako: Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII, the Dufia of Anyako, has convened a special congress for chiefs and queen mothers of the region to discuss development projects aimed at transforming the traditional area and improving the lives of its residents. The congress focused on collective strategies to advance various sectors, particularly agriculture, within the community.
According to Ghana News Agency, Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui, who also serves as the President and Paramount Chief of the Amugo-Vego Traditional Council in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, highlighted the importance of the congress in discussing and implementing the plans and promises made by President John Mahama during his recent 'thank you tour', which commenced in the region. The discussions emphasized the role of chiefs in facilitating the realization of these promises, especially in the agricultural sector.
The Amugo-Vego Traditional Council plans to collaborate with neighboring traditional areas, such as Afife, Weta, and Aveyime-Bator, to enhance rice production on a large scale for economic benefits. Additionally, there are plans to prioritize oil palm plantation projects in Anyako and surrounding communities to boost agricultural productivity and create job opportunities for the youth.
Togbi Gligui expressed the council's intention to work closely with Ohawu Agricultural College to develop effective strategies for achieving agricultural goals. He also addressed the issue of inadequate water supply in the communities, stressing the need for a permanent solution to harness the area's potential fully.
Infrastructure development was another focal point, with Togbi Gligui identifying several roads for prioritization, including Afife-Aborlorve Nolopi-Anyako, Aborlorve-Nolopi to Sasieme through to Tsiame, and Abor-Tsiame-Atiavi roads. He called on community residents to support the chiefs in developing these initiatives to enhance agricultural productivity.
The congress was attended by several notable chiefs, including Togbi Agbetsi Zewu IV, Togbi Attipoe V, Togbi Kposegee IV, Togbi Doe Atieku II, Togbi Akakpo Solaga II, Togbi Aposa VI, Togbi Awushie Okpattah IV, Togbi Gbanaglo Asafo III, Mama Nutsufe II, and Mama Kokui Deakor I.
