Tema Police and GPHA Collaborate to Boost Security for 24-Hour Port Operations

Tema: The Tema Regional Police Command is working in collaboration with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to ensure security for the ongoing 24-hour operations at the Tema Port.

According to Ghana News Agency, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Barnabas Nambont Nasumong, the Tema Regional Police Commander, recently paid a courtesy visit to Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, the Director General of the GPHA. This meeting aimed to strengthen their collaborative efforts on port security.

DCOP Nasumong was accompanied by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Peter Boakye, the Staff Officer of the Tema Regional Police Command. On the GPHA side, Dr. Kingsley Antwi-Boasiako, the General Manager of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, and Mr. David Songotu, the General Manager of Risk, were present during the discussions with the GPHA Director General.

The visit emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination between the Ghana Police Service and GPHA security personnel to ensure the safety of both life and property within the port area. With the initiation of round-the-clock port services, which are expected to significantly increase activity at the ports, there is a recognized need for an increased police presence to deter criminal activities and maintain law and order.
