Tamale: The Savannah Women Integrated Development Agency (SWIDA-Ghana), in collaboration with STAR Ghana Foundation, has conducted a community engagement session in Wamale, a suburb of Tamale, aimed at enhancing residents' understanding of the upcoming December elections. This initiative seeks to empower community members to engage in peaceful dialogue throughout the election period.According to Ghana News Agency, Hajia Alima Sagito-Saeed, Executive Director of SWIDA-Ghana, emphasized the importance of providing communities with accurate information to ensure effective participation in electoral processes. She urged community members to make their voting decisions peacefully and based on personal choice, free from intimidation or harassment.Madam Ragadahu Abdul-Wahab, Project Officer at STAR Ghana Foundation, highlighted the significance of peace in societal progress. Her sentiments were echoed by Mr. Anaba Sampson, Tamale Metropolitan Director of the Electoral Commission, who praised SWIDA-Ghana and its partners for their initiative, noting its potential to enhance citizens' comprehension of electoral procedures.Superintendent Richard Odertey, Deputy Commander of Operations for the Ghana Police Service in the Northern Region, stated that the police's primary role during elections is to ensure security and maintain law and order before, during, and after the elections. Meanwhile, Mr. Ziblim Abu, Assemblyman for the Wamale Electoral Area, encouraged participants to respect each other's right to vote for their chosen candidates, underscoring the importance of tolerance in the electoral process.
