Zwiesel: Three bodies have been discovered in a dilapidated house in the Bavarian town of Zwiesel, south-eastern Germany, following a confession from a suspect who turned himself in to police.
According to Ghana News Agency, the 37-year-old Slovakian suspect approached police in Linz, Austria, on Monday afternoon, admitting to killing three people. He was subsequently taken into custody and is awaiting extradition to Germany, as confirmed by police officials.
Based on the suspect's confession, authorities located the bodies of a 22-year-old and a 56-year-old at his residence in Zwiesel, along with a third unidentified body. The case is currently being investigated as a homicide, according to a police spokeswoman.
The two victims who have been identified are German nationals and resided in the same apartment building, though it remains unclear if they shared an apartment. The relationships among those involved, as well as the suspect's motive, are still under investigation. Details regarding the timing and circumstances of the deaths are not yet available.
The police spokeswoman mentioned that there is little information available that can be stated with certainty at this time. The bodies were discovered on Monday, following the suspect's disclosure to Linz police.
Extradition proceedings for the suspect may take several weeks, typically requiring a European Arrest Warrant, as explained by Horst Mller from the nearby state prosecution office in Deggendorf.
On Tuesday, the house was sealed off with police tape, and forensic teams were present at the scene. Local newspaper Passauer Neue Presse reported that the building, located in an otherwise quiet neighborhood, had a reputation for frequent disturbances, including incidents involving alcohol-fueled disputes.
Mayor Karl-Heinz Eppinger commented on the situation, noting that the house was known to authorities for occasional police or fire brigade operations due to false fire alarms. However, he emphasized that such a violent incident was unexpected. "You only see this in crime shows," he added.
