Sunyani Nyamaa JHS Triumphs in NCCE ‘Smart Governors Constitution Game’

Sunyani: The Nyamaa Junior High School (JHS) emerged as the champion of the 'Smart Governors Constitution Game' organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for basic schools within the Sunyani Municipality.

According to Ghana News Agency, Nyamaa JHS secured 35 points, surpassing St. James JHS, which accumulated 30 points in the grand finale. The competition aimed to enhance civic education and promote good governance among schoolchildren. Furthermore, it sought to deepen their understanding of the 1992 Constitution, encouraging them to further explore the supreme laws of the land.

As a reward for their victory, the students from Nyamaa JHS were awarded a trophy and gold medals, while the runners-up, St. James JHS, received silver medals. The St. Anthony of Padua JHS and the Police Experimental JHS finished in fourth and fifth places, respectively, earning bronze medals for their efforts.

Addressing the participants before the competition commenced, Mr. Benjamin Kyere, the Sunyani Municipal Director of the NCCE, emphasized the importance of inculcating democratic and constitutional values in the youth. He highlighted that the competition is designed to inspire civic education clubs and their patrons to study the constitution, adding that the event would be held annually.
