Sunyani: The Sunyani Area office of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has taken action to disconnect the power supply to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) main station in the Dormaa Municipality due to unpaid bills amounting to GHS4,600. In an effort to address outstanding debts, the company also halted power to the GNFS's sub-station located at the Dormaa-Ahenkro bus terminal, which has an outstanding bill of GHS1,179. This move was part of a broader mass revenue mobilization and loss control exercise conducted in the Municipality.
According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative also affected other households and public institutions, including the Ghana Ambulance Service office, which had an outstanding debt of GHS10,196. Mr. John Anim Peprah, the Dormaa-Ahenkro Station Supervisor of NEDCo, revealed to the media during the exercise in Dormaa-Ahenkro that customers in the municipality collectively owe the company more than GHS20.33 million. The company aims to recover at least 80 percent of these outstanding bills and has urged customers to settle their dues and maintain their payment receipts to avoid future disconnections.
Meanwhile, the Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian Nursing and Midwifery Training College managed to avert disconnection by paying GHS30,000, exceeding its accumulated bill of GHS29,266. In a similar vein, authorities at the Dormaa Senior High School have assured NEDCo that they intend to clear their outstanding bills of more than GHS1.64 million promptly.
