Special Voting Exercise: Media Personnel Deny Entry to Polling Stations at Dormaa Central.

Dormaa Central: Security personnel on Monday denied some unaccredited media personnel assigned to cover the special voting exercise in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region. They were denied entry to the voting center to cover the elections.According to Ghana News Agency, the decision was based on a directive from the Electoral Commission (EC) following a meeting with election stakeholders at Dormaa-Ahenkro before the commencement of the special voting exercise. Deputy Superintendent of Police Charles Anku, the Dormaa Municipal Police Commander, stated, "We concluded that journalists and media personnel without accreditation tags would not be allowed to provide coverage for the special voting," during an interview at the Schaefer Presbyterian Church at Dormaa-Ahenko where voting is underway.Some media personnel expressed their dissatisfaction and disappointment with the EC's decision, explaining that they had not received their accreditation cards from the commission. In a separate interview , Mr. Francis Owiredu, the Dormaa Municipal Election Officer, confirmed the story, saying that security personnel were instructed to allow only accredited media organizations entry to polling stations.Meanwhile, voting began promptly at the polling station at 0700 hours without any delays. When the Ghana News Agency visited the center around 0651 hours, election materials were already in place, and EC officials were preparing the center for the voting process. Various political agents and security personnel had also arrived at the center to observe the proceedings.
