The South Dayi District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has held its Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) meeting, with a call on members to respond swiftly to election-related issues to prevent them from degenerating into conflicts.The IPDC, a flagship programme of the NCCE, with the mandate to handle intra and inter-party conflict, was reconstituted and inaugurated at Kpeve in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region.The 27-member committee has representatives from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Police; political parties, chiefs, the Electoral Commission, community service organisations (CSO), youth and women groups, and media.It is tasked to play crucial roles in maintaining peace before, during and after the December 7 polls.Mr Mathias Segbefia, the South Dayi District Director, NCCE, sensitised members on dis/misinformation as matters to be avoided to ensure peace in Ghana.He educated them on the Code of Conduct to Guide Political Parties on Vigilantism Act, 2019 (Act 999).Supt. Harry Selormey, the South Dayi District Police Commander, urged the political party members, followers, agents, actors and assigns to adhere to the electoral regulations for peace to prevail in the country.Mr Oral-Robert Amenyo, the Deputy Volta Regional Director, NCCE, advised the Committee members to be apolitical in their dealings with the aggrieved parties and their role was to foster peace between and among conflicting parties.The political party members present (NDC, NPP, and LPG) affirmed their commitment to peace in the district, before, during and after the December 7, 2024, polls.The 27-member committee had Mr Wellington Elupeju, the Presiding Member of the South Dayi District Assembly, as its chair.Source: Ghana News Agency
