Sousse plays host to Tunisian-Polish business and partnership forum

Sousse: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Centre (CCI) organised on Thursday in Sousse a Tunisian-Polish Business and Partnership Forum, as part of the implementation of the cooperation agreement signed in 2019 between the CCI and the Polish Chamber of Commerce (KIG).In a statement to the TAP news agency, Nejib Mellouli, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Centre, said that the Tunisian-Polish Business and Partnership Forum is part of the efforts to develop cooperation and boost trade between Tunisian businessmen and their Polish counterparts, whose delegation is visiting the city of Sousse from May 22 to 24.Mellouli explained that the purpose of organising such events is to try to increase the volume of Tunisian-Polish trade, which saw a relative decline in both imports and exports in 2023.The value of exports for that year reached 579 million dinars compared to 522 million dinars in 2022, while the value of imports from Poland reached 470 million dinars compared to 522 m illion dinars in 2022.In this context, he stressed the need to work on developing Tunisian exports to Poland, especially since many Tunisian products have a high export potential to the Polish market, such as ready-made garments, electronic and electrical materials, and food products.The forum included a presentation of the economic fabric of the Central Region, the various differential advantages of the region, which includes the governorates of Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia and Kairouan, as well as the promising sectors and investment areas available.A representative of the Polish Ministry of Economic Development presented the investment climate in Poland and the opportunities for partnership and cooperation between the two countries.The programme of the Forum, which was attended by the Polish Ambassador to Tunisia, included the organisation of 50 partnership meetings between Tunisian and Polish businessmen. The cooperation agreement between the Centre's Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Polish Ch amber of Commerce was also updated.The Polish delegation, led by the President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, was made up of 12 members, including representatives of 7 companies operating in the metal and mechanical industries, the chemical industry, international trade and consultancy services and legal advice.Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
