Sky Train Trial: Case Management Conference Concluded

Accra: The Case Management Conference in the Republic versus Solomon Asamoah and Another, also known as the Sky Train Case, has been concluded, announced Dr Dominic Akurutinga Ayine, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Ayine spoke at the Government Accountability Series press conference held at the Presidency in Accra. He highlighted the delays in proceedings, which were primarily due to a change of solicitors and multiple medical excuses provided by the second accused, Prof Ameyaw-Akumfi, as well as recent medical excuses from the lawyer representing the first accused. Dr Ayine indicated that these factors had impeded the process; however, he expressed optimism that the trial would commence before the legal vacation begins.

Dr Ayine also provided an update on the related case of Republic v. Kwabena Adu-Boahene and 3 Others. He stated that the State is calling only three prosecution witnesses in this case, and the first witness has already concluded their testimony. However, the proceedings faced a setback due to the third accused person withdrawing her lawyer's services in open court, which delayed the discharge of the first witness and the commencement of the second witness's testimony.

Dr Ayine expressed confidence that the second witness in the Kwabena Adu-Boahene case is expected to begin testifying before the legal vacation starts on July 31, 2025.
